Big projects rarely finish on time or on budget, but there are things you can watch out for to help keep your projects on time and within budget. The bigger the project, the harder it is.  However, if you know the reasons why this happens, then you can start to take the necessary steps to avoid these pitfalls when planning your next project.  While effective project managers know that no project is ever flawless, they also know how to adapt and respond to challenges in order to keep the project on track.  It is important to be able to communicate the goal of the project, the unknowns that may arise, and the directions of your leaders.  Keep in mind that the goal is not to learn how to give more accurate estimations, but to learn how to best approach big projects in order to make sure they are as effective and efficient as possible.
