New Zealand Travels and Social Impact

What an amazing experience!

Traveling from L.A. –> Queenstown, NZ –> Dunedin, NZ –> Bay of Islands, NZ –> Vanuatu –> Fiji

Starting in Queenstown, New Zealand, meeting 39 incredible people, performing random acts of kindness, and exploring the city in adventure mode.

Dunedin, New Zealand, speaking on stage and DJing at the Forsyth Barr Stadium in New Zealand at the INSPIRE event to raise money for the Sophie Elliott Foundation to create awareness on preventing violence against young women.

Bay of Islands, New Zealand, staying off the grid with an indigenous tribe on a Marae for five days and bringing fresh water filters to nearby tribes.

Vanuatu, bringing fresh water filters to schools, churches, and non profit organizations and providing training for the locals on how to use them.

The best part of this trip was the inward journey and opportunities for self reflection throughout these many countries and cultures.

It was an absolute dream come true to DJ at the stadium and also DJ at the Marae with the tribe!!!

It has definitely been an adventure with an amazing group of people!! And lasting friendships for years to come.

Will be heading to Fiji tomorrow for a week of reflection and relaxation.

Ziplining through Isla Roatan, Honduras

By | Travels | No Comments

On the Boardroom Cruise in January 2015, one of our stops in the Caribbean was at Isla Roatan, Honduras where we went zip lining through the forest. It was an amazing experience through a forest of trees and overlooking the water and beach as we zig-zagged through the course. The slow-motion in this video shows that I didn’t actually kick over the zip line guide… there was just a lot of momentum…

The Boardroom Cruise is an annual event that emerged from the original Boardroom on the Beach group started by Maria Matarelli at Clearwater Beach, Florida, bringing business consulting to the beach for business owners and entrepreneurs to discover new strategies and techniques for rapidly growing their business. Join us on our next cruise in 2016 from January 23 – 31 where we set sail from Fort Lauderdale, FL for a Special 9-Day Voyage to the Exotic Southern Caribbean islands of Grand Turk, Aruba and Curacao! Each day is filled with just a few hours of targeted strategy sessions and the rest of the trip is an incredible blast with shore excursions and fun and relaxation on the cruise ship! We are partnering with a group of over 400+ marketing professionals, sharing some of the latest online marketing strategies. The cruise sold out this last year, so grab your cabin now while its still available! We would love to have you join us!

Walking with Elephants in Johannesburg

By | Maria Matarelli, Travels | No Comments

While leading a certification training class in Johannesburg, South Africa and after a series of unbelievable events that have added up to the most complex and challenging trip ever… I found an immense amount of solace in the opportunity to visit Glen Afric and spend the afternoon with wild elephants. They are such majestic creatures.

During the class, we were writing user stories which is a great way of capturing desired features from the customer’s perspective in the format “As a who, I need what, so that why. Each of the students wrote a user story within the context of a traveler (me) who had flown to South Africa for work and only had ½ a day before heading to the airport to do anything of real leisure and I asked, given the time constraints, what one would do for fun. After around 20 great submissions, the winning user story was to visit Glen Afric and walk with elephants. It was definitely a great choice!
